My name is Daniel. I am your Students’ Union Council Chairperson for 2011/2012. I am 21 years old and from Blarney in Cork. Currently I’m a 3rd Year Civil Engineering student. Unlike the officers ye will meet over the year I have to juggle academic and union work. Since my 1st day in UCC I have been involved in many societies and non academic activities. I have held positions from class rep upwards in the last two years. I would encourage everyone to get involved in activities outside of the class room.

Now to my role in the union, I am the facilitator for a monthly Student Council Meeting. All students are able to attend and speak. But only class representatives can vote. It is my job to ensure these meetings are run in accordance to the Council Standing Orders which can be found on this page. I also represent Student Council at the meeting of the Students’ Union Executive. If there is a issue you would like to discuss, an issue you feel your union should make a stand on, you can do this. I would encourage everyone to get involved in college activities outside of your course work. The union represents you and your peers and you can easily get involved all it takes is a bit of go!
