Startup Applications
The only limits are your imagination, your interest and getting 100 people to sign up for the Society.
Come on... How much fun can you make?
Societies exist to bring like-minded people together. They need to be more than just social groups and you should consider what students will gain from being part of your society and that they would not find in any other UCC society's activities.
To start a new society or get a deleted society going you should download a form below. Please take a look at the Questions document. It's designed to make you think about how your society might benefit its members and the committee who will run it.
As writing up your application, you need to collect the names and student numbers of 100 students who would like to join the proposed society to prove that there's a demand for it in UCC. Drop the form to the ASA - 6 Carrigside, College Road, UCC. Once we've received it, your application will be considered by the Societies Executive Committee at their next meeting.
If approved, you'll start to get all the benefits of being a society, but on a provisional basis. Your proposal will be presented to the Joint Board for Student Affairs, who oversee student organisations and ensure that their activities have a benefit to the wider student body. With their assent, your society will be given a two year trial run.
A full support would be available to you throughout the process.
